Scanning without a scanner
Point your phone camera at the barcode and the product drops into the cart. Bienzoli reads the standard retail barcodes — EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E — as well as QR codes, using a scanner that runs entirely inside the browser on your device.
If you already own a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, it works too: those behave like a keyboard, so they type into the search box exactly as you would.
No barcode on the product? Plenty of stock in Mauritius arrives unlabelled — loose parts, repacked goods, homemade items. Search by name instead, or print your own codes and scan those. Nothing forces you to barcode everything on day one.
Cash, card and MCB Juice
Mark each sale with how it was paid: cash, card, MCB Juice, bank transfer or other. For cash, type what the customer gave you and Bienzoli shows the change due in big figures before you finish the sale.
One thing worth being clear about: Bienzoli records the payment method, it does not process the payment. Your MCB Juice and your card machine keep working exactly as they do now. Bienzoli is the record of what was sold and what was collected, not a payment gateway.
Every sale moves your stock
The moment a sale closes, the items come off your shelf count. No end-of-day reconciliation, no separate stock sheet to update, no wondering whether the number on screen is real.
Each movement is written to a history you can read back later, tagged with the receipt number that caused it. If a count looks wrong, you can trace it instead of guessing. That is covered in more depth on the stock control page.
Receipts a customer can keep
Print the receipt on a normal printer, save it as a PDF, or share it straight to WhatsApp from the sale-complete screen. Every sale gets a sequential number — POS-0001, POS-0002 — that is unique to your business.
Built for how the counter actually behaves
- Double taps do not double-sell. Every checkout carries an idempotency key, so a second tap returns the same receipt rather than a second sale.
- Overselling is blocked at the database. Stock is decremented under a condition that the stock is actually there, so two tills cannot sell the same last item.
- Discounts are per sale. Knock money off the total when you need to, and the discount is recorded rather than hidden in a changed price.
- Walk-in customers are fine. Attach a customer when it matters for credit or history, skip it when someone just wants a bottle of water.
What it does not do
Being straight with you saves everyone time. Bienzoli has no VAT or tax calculation, no multi-currency, no payroll, and no full accounting ledger. It does not process card or MCB Juice payments.
